Leopard population increased by 60% in 4 years: Javadekar
The leopard population has increased from 8,000 to 12,500 in 4 years (2014-2018). The Union minister of Environment Prakash Javadekar was happy while announcing the figures which gives India an edge over other countries in the environment sector. The leopard population is highest in Madhya Pradesh, Karnatka, Maharashtra. The population measure of the wild cat is done by camera trapping method.
