The coronavirus pandemic has attacked almost all sectors of the economy of all countries except a few. But this time, the agricultural sector has been the odd ball in all the sectors as the agriculture exports rose by 43.4% in April-September, according to government sources. Agri- commodities exports rose by 43.4 per cent to Rs 53,626.6 crore in the first half of the fiscal year and the farm exports stood at Rs 37,397.3 crore during the April-September. The balance of trade in April- September was at 9,002 crore as against trade deficit of Rs 2,133 crore, therefore indicating a positive trade. Positive growth was recorded in many products such as ground nuts, wheat, refined sugar, basmati rice, and non- basmati rice.
