Major pharmaceutical companies plan cheaper solutions for Ayushman Bharat

In an initiative that could bring great relief to patients, multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline Pharma and Abbott have proposed to launch a “second brand” of their products, which could be introduced into the Ayushman government health insurance scheme Bharat, announced the same year. Urging the government to create “political provisions” to put in place a safeguard policy mechanism to ensure that these supplies are exempt from price referencing, the US India Business Council (USIBC) asked the government. The suggestion is part of a list of other measures proposed by the USIBC.
