Doctors remove 122 nails from the stomach of an Ethiopian man

Ethiopian doctors have extracted more than a hundred iron nails and other sharp objects from the stomach of a patient in the capital Addis Ababa this weekend. Dawit Teare, a surgeon at the St. Peter’s explained that the 33-year-old patient was sick and had apparently consumed the items, including 122 four-inch nails, four pins, a toothpick and pieces of broken glass. Dawit told AFP that the patient has been suffering from mental illness for 10 years and stopped taking his medication two years ago, which probably explains why he started to consume inanimate objects.
