BMW recalls more than a million cars to avoid the risk of fire related to the exhaust system

German luxury car maker BMW said that it would recall more than a million additional diesel cars, evoking a problem with the exhaust system that “can cause a fire in extreme cases. The coolant may leak from a defective component called an exhaust gas recirculation cooler, by combining with other substances in the system to create a fire hazard, the group said. In combination with an announcement in August targeting 480,000 cars, BMW now recalls 1.6 million vehicles worldwide.
